Andrew’s Irish Coffee

Glass: Irish Coffee Glass

Equipment: Coffee maker, blender (protein shake) bottle, grater/zester

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz Clontarf 1014 Irish Whiskey
  • Black coffee
  • Heavy cream
  • Freshly grated nutmeg

Directions

  • Fill an Irish Coffee glass with hot water and let it stand until glass is warm.
  • Hand whip heavy cream using blender bottle and set aside (see Barkeep Notes)
  • Add Clontarf 1014 to glass
  • Top with coffee leaving room for whipped cream
  • Stir
  • Top with cream
  • Grate fresh nutmeg onto cream
  • Enjoy!

Barkeep Notes

I find the blender bottle gives just the right consistency for the cream to properly layer on top of the coffee and works better than an electronic hand mixer.

Resist the urge to shortcut with Reddi-wip or similar; it’s just not the same.

Clontarf 1014 may not be the fanciest Irish Whiskey but for some reason it is perfect for the Irish Coffee.
